What is NEOS?

NEOS is a group of government, health, college and university libraries that cooperate to share library resources, technology, collections and people.

What can NEOS do for me?

Being a NEOS member allows you to borrow materials from any of the other member site - bringing you access to more than 5 million unique titles!

Some of the members include:

  • Alberta Government Library
  • Alberta Innovates - Technology Futures Library
  • Alberta Health Services and Covenant Health Libraries (Knowledge Resource Service)
  • University of Alberta Libraries
  • MacEwan University Library
  • Red Deer College Library

What is the NEOS Library Catalogue?

The NEOS Library Catalogue is the online library catalogue that is shared between all member libraries. You can search the catalogue to view the available books and other materials available to borrow.

How do I request a book that I want from another NEOS library?

When you find a book that you want from another NEOS library, you may request the book yourself using the NEOS Library Catalogue hold feature, or simply request the book from KRS. If the book is available, it will be sent to the NEOS library you choose as your pickup location.

Can I go to another NEOS library and borrow books?

Yes! Just show your valid NEOS library card and, provided you are in good standing, you will be able to borrow books on site at any NEOS library. There are some exceptions. Please contact individual NEOS libraries for details.
