Library Site Reopening

AHS has eased COVID-19 access restrictions for designated family/support persons and visitors of patients and residents. However, precautions such as continuous masking, physical distancing and hand hygiene are still necessary to protect patients, staff and services.

Due to factors such as the vulnerability of patients, or space constraints, some healthcare sites may continue to impose access limits. If you plan to come to site to visit a library, please speak with the library site to find out if there are still certain access limits in-place by the facility.

Library Site Reopening FAQ

Q: What are the library’s hours?

Open 8am - 4:15pm, Mon-Fri. Swipe access (in applicable sites) after 4pm and on weekends. Sites without swipe access may continue to request access through site security.

The KRS Virtual Library remains available to serve you, with staff available during business hours.

Q: What safety precautions are in place?

  • KRS staff to follow all safety requirements as dictated by the facility and/or AHS
  • Continuous masking is required in spaces where physical distancing of 2m is not possible
  • Capacity limits may be enforced, to ensure adequate physical distancing

Q: Will you send a book to my office so I don’t have to come in person?

Yes, we will send books via interoffice mail to library clients who don’t work in a site with a library.

Q: Can I use the computer?

Computers will be accessible, however, time limits may be imposed if there are others waiting. Some computer stations may be closed to ensure adequate physical distancing.

Q: How can I return my book?

Books can be returned to any KRS library via mail, or interoffice mail; or they can be returned to your home library site in-person and placed in the book drop.

Q: How can I renew my book?

To renew your book, you can do so via your NEOS library account or by contacting KRS directly via email or chat (on our homepage).

Q: Do I have access to other NEOS libraries?

You have access to other NEOS library collections via the NEOS Catalogue and can place holds on any NEOS library material.

Different NEOS libraries have different restrictions in place regarding external borrowers – check with the library you’d like to visit to see their policies for in-person visits and borrowing.
