Some of Techstreet documents use digital rights management to control how documents can be viewed, shared, or printed within the organization. If you are having trouble downloading a standard or guideline from Techstreet (especially those published by the CSA or National Research Council), you likely need to add a program called FileOpen to enable you to view the pdf. Many staff prefer to use FileOpen for additional document functionality (print, copy and paste text, highlight or download), but if you simply wish to view a document, you can use Techstreet's online file viewer.

To request FileOpen from IT, use the IT Service Hub to submit a request. Choose the Need Something top menu item and select Software from the left menu. Choose Standard Desktop Software, and under the software needed dropdown, select FileOpen. You can specify that is needed for accessing CSA standards under the Justification/Business Case. Once you've have FileOpen, you'll be able to use Adobe Reader to view the documents.

After you've downloaded the standard, you'll need to retrieve it from your Downloads folder in order for it to open externally in Adobe Reader. It cannot be opened in the browser like other PDFs (DO NOT choose Open File, rather hover over the item and click on the Folder).  In the downloads folder, right click to Open with...Adobe Reader.
