Copyright infringement occurs when any person does, without the consent of the copyright owner, anything that falls within the exclusive rights of the copyright holder as outlined in the Canadian Copyright Act. This includes reproducing, publishing, distributing, or selling copyright protected works.

We all have a shared responsibility in the organization to respect the provisions of the Copyright Act. Consequently, Knowledge Resource Service (KRS) staff  have the discretion to refuse to copy or print materials that they find to be in violation of the Copyright Act or where copying materials would constitute a breach of the law.
