EZproxy is the software that KRS uses to provide remote access to the library's databases and resources that are restricted to AHS and Covenant Health clinicians and staff. The EZproxy system detects when you are accessing the KRS website from outside the AHS network and you are prompted automatically to login with your AHS/COV credentials.
EZproxy works by including a prefix in front of the resource URL. We have added this prefix to our databases, ejournals and ebooks links on the KRS website. Here is our special prefix:
http://ahs.idm.oclc.org/login?url=
URLs with the EZproxy prefix work both on and off site and connect AHS network users through the AHS EZProxy server. Links to licensed library resources need to pass through the AHS EZproxy server in order to show the resource providers that users are coming from an AHS internet address. The server is configured with a list of our subscribed e-resources.

Links to free websites or open access resources that are not restricted to AHS users, such as Pubmed, do not need to go through EZproxy. You will see these resources listed with an open access symbol 
.
You don't have to do anything except click on the link to one of our online resources (online article, online book, etc.) from inside the KRS website, and EZproxy kicks in automatically by showing you a login screen when you are off-site. You only have to log in once as long as you keep your browser open and you access resources via the KRS website, catalogue, or subscribed databases. However, if you close your browser and open it again, you will have to log in again.
You can also configure some citation mangers to store your EZproxy prefix which will automatically authenticate you to the resource when it is available.
